Joy is the song of the heart sounding outward as it gives. Happiness is what you experience as you go through your selfish forms of loving. One minute you are happy because things are going well for you and you are getting what you want out of life and the next minute you are sad because something has been taken away from you that you want or something has not worked out the right way for you according to your desires. Most of you flick from happiness to sadness and from happiness to depression. Joy is free from that. It is simply the song of the heart giving continuously to all around. It knows not happiness and it knows not sadness — it is simply joyously giving — because it is the beloved out there that is receiving.
